TESOL Journal Special Issue 20​2​1: Call for Proposals

TESOL Journal (TJ) is seeking proposals for the 2021 special topic issue from interested guest
editors. The TJ Editorial Advisory Board will consider proposals that address a theme of interest and
relevance to the international readership of TJ. Successful proposals have an overarching theme that
is timely and are of interest to the TJ international readership. The issue will appear in the September
or December issue of 2021.

Examples of previous special issues are the following topics:
  • English language teaching for social justice
  • TESOL Teacher Identity Development
  • Creativity in Pre-K-12 Classrooms and Contexts
  • Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL)
  • Critical Perspectives on World Englishes
  • Engaged Teaching and Learning: Service-Learning, Civic Literacy and TESOL
  • Teacher Collaboration in TESOL
  • Learner-Centered Practices and TESOL
  • Constructing Meaning with Computers
  • Sustained Content for Language Learning

Please note that the topics listed above are meant to be illustrative and not restrictive. We are
accepting submissions for feature articles and all other submission categories. Note that the
acceptance of proposal does not guarantee publication. There will be a regular peer review process
for all manuscripts submitted to the special issue. The guest editor(s) are responsible for managing
the review process and selecting the content of the issue, in consultation with the general editors.

  • Concise rationale for this special issue (3 single-spaced pages MAX)
  • Potential contributors, if any
  • Call for abstracts for the issue (1-2 pages)
  • Curriculum Vitae of the guest editor(s)

Proposed Tentative Timeline:
  • SI proposal submission due: January 31, 2020
  • Notifications for SI invitation: February 29, 2020
  • Call for papers appears: March 6, 2020
  • Proposal submission due: May 15, 2020
  • Notifications for inviting full articles: June 15, 2020
  • Full manuscripts due: December 31, 2020
  • Publication: September or December 2021 issue
Please submit a proposal to TESOL Journal. Proposals will be reviewed initially by the
journal’s editors and then may be passed on to the editorial board for a second-stage review. Please
