Important: TESOL will have a
Virtual Convention in 2021. Awards will not be issued to cover travel and hotel costs. Awards that include a complimentary convention registration will be offered a complimentary registration to the TESOL Virtual Convention.
Who's Eligible?
TESOL members who have had a proposal accepted for presentation (paper or colloquium) on NNEST issues at the
annual TESOL convention. Both native and nonnative speakers of English are eligible. The published paper is not required for this award application.
Purpose
To recognize scholarship on NNEST issues.
Amount
One award of US$250, donated by
East Carolina University, and a convention registration for the virtual annual TESOL convention.
Criteria
Eligible proposals are evaluated according to the following criteria:
- Significance of the topic as it relates to the NNEST research
- Contribution to the field of TESL/TEFL
- Originality and creativity in concept
- Relevance and broad impact

To Apply
Applicants will submit their convention presentation title and and description which should not be longer than 1,000 words.
Important: All applications submitted for this award will be pre-screened to verify that the proposals on the applications were in fact accepted to be presented at the annual convention. Applications with rejected proposals will have to be disqualified.
Application Deadline
Accepting applications starting 1 July. All applications must be submitted by
1 October.
