A Message From the Editor

Dorothy Forbin, ALC Newsletter Editor,

Welcome to the November 2010 edition of the Affiliate News. The Affiliate News is a wonderful venue for affiliates around the world to meet, update, and share information and experiences about their upcoming events in the TESOL world.

In this edition, we have a report from the Affiliate Leadership Council (ALC) chair, Misty Adoniou. Debbie Couvatas takes an upbeat look at online teaching software in her feature article, "Webbing In." Mira Malupa-Kim engages us in her article "Professional Development: Why Attending Conferences Counts," reminding us of the exciting benefits we experience at TESOL conferences. Debbie Vaughn takes a look at "Student Achievement." Argentina TESOL shares with us their participation in an international spelling bee competition. We have an announcement from ALC Past Chair Don Weasenforth on the 2011 Affiliate Colloquium, "English As an International Language and Its Implications for Policy and Pedagogy." Enjoy the announcements on upcoming affiliate events in Georgia (USA), Azerbaijan, and Puerto Rico and reports on past events in Argentina, Haiti, and Cameroon.

I invite the Interest Groups and Standing Committees to send in reports for our next edition. The deadline is December 15, 2010. Enjoy the ALC newsletter and do send in your suggestions and reactions to me at
