The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

In December 2015, President Obama signed the Every Student Succeeds Act into law, reauthorizing the Elementary and Secondary Education Act until 2020. As the chief piece of federal legislation funding K–12 education, this new law will bring about sweeping changes in classrooms across the country, especially those serving English learners.

In anticipation of ESSA’s implementation, currently scheduled to for the start of 2017–2018 school year, TESOL Press has published a resource kit to help TESOL professionals understand how ESSA will affect the field. On this page you will find TESOL’s ESSA resource guide English Learners and ESSA: What Educators Need to Know, a companion webinar, and other resources that will help you further understand this new legislation.
