TESOL International Association has partnered with the
United States Census Bureau's Statistics in Schools (SIS) program, as well as the
National Coalition for Literacy's Pledge to Be Counted. As a partner of both the SIS and NCL initiatives, TESOL joins over two dozen non-profit and non-partisan education organizations in promoting the importance of conducting a complete and accurate census.
Census information is used to determine funding formulas for federal programs such as the Every Student Succeeds Act and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. Conducting a complete and accurate 2020 Census will ensure that federal programs are properly funded over the next decade.
See below for helpful and important resources that teachers and other TESOL professionals can share with their students, parents, and colleagues to ensure that everyone is counted.
